Archaeological tastings at the Central Market will be delayed until early 2014 due to the proximity of the Christmas season. According to Mercedes Alonso, "it has been decided to delay the work until next year since it is the Christmas season and do not think it will be appropriate to start tasting these dates as it a a very commercial period."
Alonso also said that "we have the appropriate permissions to perform tastings," referring to the confirmation received a week ago, according to what it was pointed bythe Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
The enterprise Urban Exteriores is responsible for carrying out the archaeological action in the Plaça de Fruita. The total cost of the work will be 155,400 euros excluding VAT and the execution period will be four months since its inception. It has also been responsible for the drafting of Archaeological Intervention Project submitted to Regional Ministry for approval.
The works will affect the Plaça de la Fruita, across from City Hall, and not to the Plaza de las Flores since there already exists buried underground that was built years ago. The tasting area for the operation consists of 881 square meters on the aforementioned area.
Regarding the project, Alonso said that "there is not a particular one because until the end of the month term to apply is open." He also explained that "once completed they will talk about the options that are presented." The period to apply will remains open after the government team decided to change the specifications, after collecting the allegations made by placeros, traders and partnerships last October.
The mayor said that the new Central Market "It is a project the own placeros are asking for" and that the provision of parking and the refreshment area "is required."
