The Local Government of Lorca approved the award of the work of protection of 20 heritage buildings in Lorca against weather events likely to cause damage to aggravate the wear and tear as a result of the May 11 earthquake last Tuesday.

Following this agreement, the City Council,  will inform the companies this Thursday of what they should immediately start the work, valued at 2.3 million EUR as reported by the Councilor for Culture of the City, Sandra Martinez.

Among the actions to be implemented based on these agreements include complete coverage of the transept of the church of Santiago by nine provisional scaffolding resting on concrete blocks of 1x1 m., Nine pillars lattice scaffold, plus three trusses and including split metal profile support folded steel plates are bolted to the frame. In addition, repairs to the buried crypt will take place in this temple.

Meanwhile, in the Convent Virgen de las Huertas the pilasters of the nave and the dome will be consolidated, in addition to be revisited cover to prevent entry of water. In the same vein, the work for the consolidation of the rock mass of the castle in the northern slope, corresponding to the area will start rising.

Similarly, in the Collegiate Church of San Patricio, the Church-Convent of San Francisco, Iglesia del Carmen, San Diego, decks in areas such meeting will be repaired with the main facade and the cracks will be sealed to prevent access of water inside.

In the whole of Santo Domingo, the sloping tiled roofs where its condition allows the passage of water over the vaults and paintings, sealing cracks in both walls of brick and masonry will be repaired.
